Wilderness School

We are very excited that Year 2 will be able to start Wilderness School on Thursday 19th September 2024. We have acquired a plot of land at Christ Church Academy and will be running our new Wilderness School provision from there. This is very similar to a Forest School type programme but leaves us with a little more flexibility in what we can cover and teach. The sessions will be run by Miss Bourne and supported by a TA. These will be for the whole afternoon on the Thursday’s on a weekly basis.

Pupils will walk up to the middle school, complete their learning session and be back at school before the end of the school day.

Your child will need the following kit:

  • Long trousers or leggings/ waterproof trousers if possible (weather dependent)
  • Long sleeve shirt/ sweater (lots of layers are best in cold weather)
  • A waterproof coat each session
  • Wellies (which can stay in school)
  • Sun cream (weather dependent) - unlikely this term!
  • Sunhat (weather dependent) -unlikely this term!

Pupils MUST be dressed appropriately. They will need plenty of layers, including socks, waterproof trousers (if possible) and waterproof footwear.

Wilderness School lessons will go ahead regardless of the weather (except in the case of high winds or thunderstorms) so the children need to come prepared.
